Bye Bye, Internet Explorer 6

Bye Bye, Internet Explorer 6

The winds of change have been blowing for quite some time now with regard to support and usage of the dreaded IE6, but Google recently provide a pretty strong gust with its announcement that Google apps will no longer support IE6. For those of use who build websites for a living, this came as very welcome news. One of the biggest time and money wasters for web developers is the endless struggle to ensure that the sites we build are compatible with IE6 simply because a large-enough percentage of users still stubbornly refuse to give up this archaic piece of software.

This announcement from Google happens to coincide with a new policy here at Cory Webb Media. Effective immediately, we will no longer ensure IE6 compatibility by default. We recognize that there is still a very valid need to support IE6, so for those who still require support of IE6, we will support it but include that as a separate line item in our estimates and invoices. This way, the real cost of supporting this browser is fully understood.
